Detailed Information About The Tyrolean Harp Kontakt Library

We produced a library Instrument of the exceptional Tyrolean Harp with the skilled harpist Christine Gundolf. The keys are played on a harp made by Peter Petutschnig, which is a modern classic under the Tyrolean Folk Harps. We recorded the harp in the weyrerTon Studio One's dead room - a 13 square meter recording room with professional acoustic treatment. To capture every detail of this instrument, six microphones in three different positions were used for the recording:

  • Close Setup A-B: One U47 FET one Sennheiser MKH 40

  • Close Setup M/S: Schoeps M/S System

  • Room Setup: DPA ST4011 C, 2 meters distance to the harp

Articulations & Features

  • 3 Different Playing Styles: Pluck, Nail & Harmonics

  • 3 Round-Robin Variations Per Dynamic Layer

  • Finger Plucks recreate the soft and beautiful sound of the Tyrolean Harp. Plucks Are Recorded in 4 Dynamic Ranges from A0 – D#6 (Including Semitones)

  • Pluck intonations are available in plug sustained (rings out until the end of the sample & plug release (stops as soon as the midi note is released)

Tyrolean Harp has immediately become part of my sonic arsenal, not only for traditional music but also for my contemporary and experimental endeavours. The different articulations and meticulous sample quality are perfect for giving my tracks an organic feel and further processing.

I am totally enthusiastic about the Tyrolean Harp! Naturalness and liveliness, paired with tonal brilliance and attention to detail. It can be used wonderfully in a "concert" context, but also for experimental sounds and sound mixes. Furthermore, the plugin is very clear and user-friendly. The Tyrolean Harp has a fixed place in my collection of instruments!

Experimental/Electronic

Wonderful delicately recorded Tyrolean Harp. Really great for melody lines, chords or more subtle textural support for my mixes. Love the different playing styles and the sensitivity of this instrument.

Easy to use interface, wonderful sounding Harp with great depth and detail. Superb stuff !

Film muisc

As a Film Composer it's extremely important to always find the right sound for a certain project. The Tyrolean Harp is a great option for a unique alternative Harp colour within an orchestral context.

Dubstep/Experimental

Whenever i open up the Tyrolean Harp, i don't get overloaded by tons of knobs, because of its great straightforward user interface. With the 3 easy to use knobs, i can design the harp to fit into my production in just a few seconds. My personal favorite articulation is "nails" which sounds very natural and still pops through any mix!

It is lean but it can be mean! From intimate accents to big soundscapes. This harp covers all with just 3 knobs. As always - less is more. Will be my go-to harp now.
